The Creation of Makiki
From Sketch to Showroom: The Creative Process Behind Makiki
Innovation is at the heart of Toi-Toys. As an international toy importer, we continuously develop new products to respond to market trends and the needs of our customers.
The Makiki keychain is a perfect example of how an initial idea evolves into an eye catching final product. It is a creative process in which design, product development and packaging design all come together. In this article, we take you through the different stages of the development process.
1. The First Sketch: From Idea to Design
Every new product starts on paper. During this phase, our designers bring ideas to life and determine the shape, appearance and style of Makiki. Different concepts are explored until a design emerges that perfectly matches the target audience and the identity of the product.
2. The 3D Design: Giving Shape to the Product
Once the design has been finalized, it is transformed into a detailed 3D model. This stage defines the proportions, colors and details. Thanks to this digital prototype, we can view and optimize Makiki from every angle before production even begins.
3. Packaging Design: Standing Out on the Shelf
At Toi-Toys, we believe that packaging is just as important as the toy itself. Our design team develops packaging that not only protects the product but also creates an experience. Through the right combination of colors, illustrations and materials, Makiki immediately stands out on the shelf.
For this product, a printed foil bag inside a color box was chosen, creating an element of surprise. The added identity card also gives each item its own character and completes the overall experience.
4. The Mock Up: Testing and Perfecting
Before moving into production, we always create a mock up. This allows us to evaluate both the product and the packaging in real life. Are the colors correct? Does the size feel right? Does the concept communicate the intended experience? This testing phase enables us to fine tune the final details and ensure everything is exactly as envisioned.
5. The Final Product: Ready for the Market
Only when every detail is right does Makiki move into production. The result is a cheerful, high quality keychain that is ready to surprise children around the world.
6. Showroom Presentation: Bringing the Product to Life
As the finishing touch, we present Makiki in our showroom. With matching banners, displays and a complete presentation concept, we bring the product to life. This allows our customers to experience firsthand how Makiki will stand out in a retail environment.
Developing a product like Makiki is an intensive yet inspiring process in which creativity, design and market knowledge come together. The result? Toys that are not only fun, but also developed with care, expertise and craftsmanship.
