Battery regulation
Step towards Circular Economy
Since the 17th of August 2024, the new battery regulation has been in force in Europe. This regulation focuses on the collection, reuse and recycling of batteries. This supports the transition to a circular economy, increases raw material and energy security. The legislation ensures batteries with a low carbon footprint and minimal pollutants, requiring less raw materials from outside the EU.
From 2025, requirements on the carbon footprint of rechargeable batteries will be phased in, and from 2027 consumers will have to be able to easily replace batteries in electronic devices. This means we will adapt our product range to comply with the new legislation by 2027. The implementation of this legislation will now take place in the member states with subsequent further elaboration through additional regulations.
